Big Black River

Many of the area lakes and rivers are filled to the banks from flooding associated with the Mississippi River.  As a result, I haven’t put the boat in the water much this year.  I, along with a few friends, decided to change that Sunday.  We loaded up the boats and headed for the Big Black River.  Unlike the Yazoo and Mississippi Rivers, the Big Black was down.  In fact, it was so low that it was hard to pass in several areas.  Nevertheless, we navigated up river a few miles from Bentonia.  The catfish bite was slow.  We only caught one fish.  However, the lack of fish didn’t keep us from having a good time.

Maybe one of these trips we will hit the catfish right and load the boat.  Untill then, it is just nice to spend a day on the river and count my blessings.
